Olbia
 |
Olbia, on Sardinia’s north-east coast, is a sunny city surrounded by mountainous scenery with a crystal-clear sea forming its backdrop: here is a world of breathtaking beauty to discover. Popular customs are still intact, as they have been isolated from, and thus unspoiled, by its ties with the Italian mainland.
There are beaches and rocky reefs over hundreds of kilometres, giving life to a natural spectacle: the white sand fuses with the blue sea all along the many coastal strips of this cheerful area. The Greeks used to call the city Olbìos, which means happy: and indeed, it is a happy region, located in a plain surrounded by high hills and with a port that is protected from strong winds.
The city offers various entertainments and cultural events and is an ideal starting point for those who want to explore other areas such as Viale Aldo Moro, Arzachena, the Costa Smeralda and Santa Teresa of Gallura. Just a few kilometres away is Palau, from where you can sail to the splendid archipelago of Maddalena (the crossing takes only 20 minutes): Cala Coticcio, in Caprera, is locally called “Tahiti”, and this is enough to say it all.
